An Act to Mandate Government Service for Unemployed High School and College Graduates
MAJOR AREAS TO BE AFFECTED:
Youth, Government Services (military and non-military)
JUSTIFICATION:
Mandatory government service offers a solution to the increasing number of unemployed high school and college graduates. Government service does not necessarily mean military service, it includes social services, secretarial duties, etc. We can learn from foreign nations, such as Switzerland and Israel, that have implemented such a program which has proven successful.
PROPOSAL FOR ACTION :
The formation of a committee whose purpose is to find employment for currently unemployed high school and college graduates.
It would not affect students unless they chose to go into government service after graduating, in which case the federal government would provide some amount of financial aid.
The armed branches would be one of these options but no person would be required to enlist in a combative position.
RESULTS TO BE EXPECTED :
less unemployment, higher graduation rates, possible governmental growth, national economic advancement
